Public Hearing on Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)

  • Hood River City Hall 211 2nd Street Hood River (map)

The City of Hood River Planning Commission will be reviewing the current city code pertaining to Accessory Dwelling Units. ADUs are housing units that are "accessory" to a single-family dwelling, such as a basement apartment or freestanding cottage in a home's backyard. The Planning Commission wants to look at ways to improve the ADU code as part of Hood River's broader housing strategy. You can find the current code on the City of Hood River website. Scroll down to Chapter 17.23 for the brief section on ADUs.

This hearing will include time for public testimony. If you have opinions or ideas on how the City can improve its code, please plan to testify! You can speak from notes you prepare ahead of time (plan on a 3- or 5-minute maximum, determined by the Planning Commission Chair) or simply share your thoughts in a few sentences. You may also submit your testimony in writing prior to the meeting. Send written comments to Planning Department Administrative Assistant Bobbie Van Tassel at b.vantassel@ci.hood-river.or.us.
